About Jojja
Engie also known as Jojja is an Egyptian multidisciplinary artist based in both Cairo and New York City. Ever since graduating from Parsons with a BFA in Fine Arts she has been moving between Cairo and New York, finding inspiration that feeds into her body of work. Her work relies on both illustration and animation.
Her pieces are an extension of her lived experiences with family, friends and loved ones. Engie’s body of work follows a coming of age theme that explores topics of dialogue, internal monologue and womanhood as she floats between her two homes. The Egyptian artist experiments with a colorful array of mediums to create scenes that are familiar yet surreal. A healing release, a tribute to love, friendship and hot Cheetos, her work aims to be seen as comforting and unexpectedly intimate.
